A
Acrylic Glazing
Acrylic is a thermoplastic with good scratch resistance, shatter resistance, and color stability.
Adjustable Vinyl Sill Expander or Aluminum Sill Angle
Compensates for out-of-square openings.

Air Infiltration
Air Infiltration is the amount of air leaking in and out of a home or building through cracks in walls, windows and doors. The rate of air infiltration is measured around a window or skylight in the presence of a specific pressure difference. It is expressed in units of cubic feet per minute per square foot of window area (cfm/sq. ft.). The lower a window's air infiltration rating, the better its airtightness.
Aluminum Roofs
If you want a roof with the beauty and protection of copper but keeps its color, our Aluminum Roof System is the answer. The aluminum roof is finished in solid aluminum and is available in four colors: Coppertone, Patina, Bronze, and White.
Argon Gas
Argon is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable dense gas which hinders heat transfer. In the PPG Intercept® Warm Edge Glazing process, the air between the two panes of glass is replaced by Argon Gas to increase energy efficiency even further. Heat energy is naturally inclined to move towards cooler areas; however, the density of Argon prohibits the heat from easily penetrating it, so it's forced to remain where it is.

Cable Support System
Harvey Bay and Bow Windows must have adequate structural support to ensure a stable installation. For this reason, a cable support system along with detailed instructions is supplied with each unit. Harvey strongly recommends the use of this cable system with every Bay and Bow installation.
Clad
A layer of aluminum bonded or sheathed to the exterior of a wood window to achieve a maintenance free product.
Compact Folding Handle
Our folding handle eliminates interference with blinds and other window treatments. It is available in White, Almond, or Bronze for Harvey vinyl casement windows and Coppertone for Harvey Majesty casement windows. Since they are compatible with all Harvey casements that are currently in the field, they may be purchased separately.
Condensation
Condensation comes from the moisture in the air, and is caused by too much moisture in the air for a certain temperature. Condensation forms when warm, moist air touches a surface that is colder than the dew point of the warm air. As that air becomes colder and its temperature drops below its dew point, it must release excess moisture to reach its new, lower dew point. Copper roofs are finished in 16 oz. copper and supplied as one-piece units ready for installation. They will season to a soft green patina adding a classic touch of beauty and a lifetime of protection to any home.
Custom Roof Systems
Complement any bay or bow window with a Harvey Custom Roof System. Structural, Copper, or Aluminum Roof Styles are fully framed and sheathed in 1/2" plywood. Harvey Custom Roof Systems are compatible with our own Vinyl Replacement Bay and Bow Windows, Vinyl New Construction Double Hung Bay Windows, and Majesty Wood Double Hung Bay Windows.

GBG (Grids Between the Glass)
Colonial and Diamond Style Grids are available between the glass. The colonial style features a contoured profile; the diamond style, a flat profile. Both are available in white, almond, and bronze (dark bronze for Majesty) to match window lines that are available in those colors. In addition, our brasstone and brushed nickel Decorative Pencil Bar grids are available between the glass.

A glazing system which begins by wrapping the full perimeter of the glass unit with a soft vinyl channel which serves to cushion the glass as well as to provide positive protection from water.

Obscure glass is a "frosted" glass used for privacy, light diffusion, or decorative effects.
Oriel Windows
Oriel windows have sash of unequal heights. All storm windows can be made with either the top or bottom sash taller. However, it is important to note that you may not be able to tilt in and remove the sash from inside the house. The screen will always be the size of the sash with the shortest height. Oriel windows are measured from the top, down to the bottom of the prime window meeting rail.

R-Value
R-value measures the resistance of a glazing material or fenestration assembly to heat flow. It is the inverse of the U-factor. A high R-value window has a greater resistance to heat flow and a higher insulating value than one with a low R-value.

Spiral Balance
Used in many inferior windows, this type of balance requires periodic adjustment and lubrication and can become more difficult to operate over time. We strongly recommend purchasing a window with a block and tackle balance system for a lifetime of smooth operation. Compare a spiral balance with Harvey's Block & Tackle Balance.
Spring Loaded Sash Locks
These locks are adjustable up or down and automatically clamp onto the master frame when sash are closed for cleaning or repair.
SSB Glazing
Single Strength Glass of 3/32" thickness.
Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Screen (Black Powder Coated)
Designed to be a permanent fixture, the heavy-duty stainless steel screen is installed as a preassembled unit. A 90 degree bend along the screen's edges locks it firmly into the door frame. (Glass inserts may be added or removed, but the screen always remains fixed.) Stainless steel 300 series wire mesh offers the best corrosion resistance available. Mesh is double-crimped and formed of .028" diameter wires - 10 openings per inch - each opening approximately 1/16".
STC Rating
STC (Sound Transmission Class) is a measure of sound reduction in accordance with ASTM Classification E 314. The higher the STC value, the better the product is at keeping sound out.
Structural Roofs
A roof system that is fully framed and sheathed in plywood to accept underlayment and shingles for finishing.
Structural Test Pressure
The pressure differential applied to a window or door system and is 150% of design pressure.

Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Screen (Black Powder Coated)
Designed to be a permanent fixture, the heavy-duty stainless steel screen is installed as a preassembled unit. A 90 degree bend along the screen's edges locks it firmly into the door frame. (Glass inserts may be added or removed, but the screen always remains fixed.) Stainless steel 300 series wire mesh offers the best corrosion resistance available. Mesh is double-crimped and formed of .028" diameter wires - 10 openings per inch - each opening approximately 1/16".
